A string inverter is a central inverter that converts the DC power from all of your solar panels into AC power to be used in your home. It is normally installed close to your meter box and is the most commonly used inverter type today. Adding more panels in the future or putting panels on more than two roof faces is generally not possible without designing the system very carefully.

A micro inverter is installed under each solar panel on your roof and optimises the performance of each panel. If the performance of one panel decreases, the other panels will not be effected. Panels can be installed across multiple roof faces. It’s also much easier to expand this type of system in the future.

For simple roofs with lots of space a string inverter is usually a good choice. For complicated roofs with lots of different faces, shading issues, not much space or if you just want the very best products available, micro inverters are the way to go.

The 5 + 5 year product warranty is a full product warranty for the first 5 years, followed by a parts only warranty for the following 5 years.

The product warranty will cover the replacement of your entire inverter while the parts warranty will only cover you for replacement of certain parts of your inverter. Each inverter manufacturer will have different terms including whether labor and transport costs are covered by their warranty.
